We did a setup for the Special Olympics at the fieldhouse at Marmion Academy in Aurora. They needed a way to keep spectators out of the space being used for the weight lifting competition. In the past they had used traffic cones to do this and failed miserably. We were able to create an attractive and functional drapery solution that kept people out while still looking very good.
This is the 8-foot drapery wall we built at the back of the weight lifting space.
Here we left a gap between the 8-foot back wall and the start of the 3-foot wall that would surround the left, right and front side of the space.
From here you can see the entire setup. The 8-foot back wall has a very clean look while the 3-foot surrounding wall provides the crowd control needed for the event.
A nice view of the entire drapery wall from a far off audience viewpoint.
A little closer up view from the front. The 3-foot wall provides a great way to keep people out of the space but still allows for easy viewing of the competition.
Even closer view from the front. Notice how the 8-foot back wall provides a nice backdrop for the competition while keeping the space free from audience members.
Notice how we curved this side of the 3-foot wall rather than having a 90-degree corner like we did on the other side of the space. This was done to allow for requirements of the space.
Here we are stage left and looking down the entire 8-foot wall. This wall was a total of 96 feet long and was made up of 8 12-foot sections with 3 drapes hung per section.
Like on the other side of the space we provided an opening in the wall to allow officials and competitors to enter the space easily and safely.
We took a quick video scanning from left to right to give you an idea of the final setup. The back wall was 8-feet tall and 96 feet wide. The rest of the walls were 3-feet tall and ran for a total of 150 feet. It was an attractive and functional setup that gave the Special Olympics exactly what they needed for their space.
